Description

The California Nebula is a visible emission nebula in the constellation of Perseus. It was discovered by Edward Emerson Barnard in 1884 and was named so because its shape, portrayed in long exposure photographs, is reminiscent of the US state of California.
The image with narrow filters at 3nm with S2-Ha-O3 sequence   is deliberately devoid of a stellar implant to better highlight the various emission bands.
